Personal coaching

This recent article piqued my interest for two reasons:

• I have a propensity for taking online quizzes.
• For the past year, I've been working with a personal coach, primarily on issues and topics related to work.

​The online life coach service Cloverbox.com deserves an A for being clever - tapping into today's quick-fix mentality and mimicking the quizzes that appear on Facebook feeds. Those quizzes - time-sucking distractions from Playbuzz ("What kind of protein are you?"), Quizony ("What is your brain good at?"), and Buzzfeed ("Which Game of Thrones/Downton Abbey character are you?") - almost always give positive and platitudinous assessments of you, based on a dozen-ish questions. It is always someone glamorous who will play you in the movies. You are always a lion or a stallion, never a slug or a marmot.
