I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with 20 years of experience in the management of large health research projects, and 30 years experience in project management in the scientific and technical fields. Since 2011, I have been the Principal of Lyric Management, a consulting company specializing in management and leadership training, event coordination and delivery, and career coaching.
For 7 years until 2021, I was Director of Management and Administration for the Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre at BC Cancer/PHSA, responsible for project, finance and operations management, as well as program management for the Personalized OncoGenomics (POG) program. Prior to the Director role, I was with the department for 12 years as a project manager and team leader. I previously worked in research funding, pharmaceutical testing, and the environment sector and oil & gas industry as a project manager, operations specialist and environmental manager. I hold a BSc from the University of Manitoba.
I have received several awards from from the Canadian Association of Research Administrators, including the Research Management Excellence Award (2016), the Innovation Award (2017), the Spirit of Kindness Award (2021), the Dan Chase Distinguished Service Award (2022), and the Community Builder Award (2023). These awards recognize exceptional creativity, innovative research management and outstanding contributions and dedication to the profession nationally and internationally.
I am very proud to have been recognized by my colleagues and peers in the research administration and management profession.
I am committed to expanding knowledge and interest in the field of research project management, enabling individuals to pursue their own careers in project management, and leading responsible and efficient conduct of research through good operational controls, administration, reporting, and people systems that ensure the financial and operational strengths of an organization.
